Archie Cubarrubia

 

Archie Cubarrubia is a doctoral candidate in Higher Education Administration at the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. He also serves as senior analyst with the Office of the Under Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education. He served as senior analyst with the Secretary of Education’s Commission on the Future of Higher Education.

Archie also regularly performs with the DC-based improvised comedy troupes The Lodge and Donna Martin Graduates. He received his training at Washington Improv Theater.

Archie has coordinated orientation, transition, and retention programs for first-year students and families at the University of Rhode Island, Northern Arizona University, and Boston University. His research interests include first-year student development, transition, and success; student affairs assessment; accreditation; diversity education; and cultural identity development. A recipient of several national awards, Archie also served as editor of The Orientation Review, a publication of the National Orientation Directors Association.

Involved in the music ministry for over 15 years, Archie has served as worship leader and music director for Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Flagstaff, Arizona; pianist at the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich in East Greenwich, Rhode Island; worship leader and assistant music director at the Chaengwattana Community Church in Bangkok, Thailand; and worship leader and music director for the Risen Lord Fellowship in Baguio City, Philippines. He most recently served on the worship team at National Community Church in Washington, DC.

He received his Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and his Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.
